Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine has a unique style that combines R&B with soul, gospel music, and R&B. Sunshine has appeared on Broadway and in the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine, whose given name is Denise White. While she now lives in Atlanta she was born in Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical journey began in the church, where she sang and was a pianist. In Atlanta, she attended Spellman College where her musical training began on the Atlanta's R&B Scene. She became the primary keyboardist at Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 about serving as Choral Director of Dreamgirls the stage show in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was recognized nationally for her daily shows during 2008's Democratic National Convention. She was then invited to perform during President Obama's 2009 inauguration.
